October Talk 2024

Our October talk was held a week earlier than usual because of Halloween. We were delighted to welcome back Conall O’Caoimh of Ardan Gardens and President of the Howth and Sutton Horticultural Society, who spoke to us on propagation methods and skills. As part of his presentation Conall showed us a range of practical methods on how to create ‘free’ plants to build up our own plant collection.

Conall is an artist and co-creator of Ardan Garden with Nuala Doherty. For over 20 years they have designed, created and developed Ardan into a beautiful garden with an extensive collection of rare plants.

Ardan Garden, comprising half an acre of hilltop in Howth, is a RHSI Partner Garden and an official partner of UNESCO Dublin Bay Biosphere. It is also a member of the Dublin Garden Trail and the Dublin Coastal Trail.

Many of you may know Conall and Nuala from their monthly column in the Irish Garden Magazine.

The talk was held as normal at 8pm in the Parish Centre, behind the Church of Ireland on Seafield Road West, Clontarf.

Tea, coffee and refreshments were served afterwards with people having the opportunity to speak directly with Conall and to also catch up with each other again.
